According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 73.28%, while it was 75.87% in 2016, and 70.29% in 2011.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Adv G Steephen of CPIM won in this constituency beating K S Sabarinadhan of INC by a margin of 5046 votes which was 3.48% of the total votes cast. In 2016, K.S. Sabarinadhan of INC was the winner in this seat beating Adv. A.A.Rasheed of CPIM by a margin of 21314 votes which was 14.83% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, G. Karthikeyen of INC won this seat defeating Ambalathara Sreedharan Nair of RSP by a margin of 10674 votes which was 9.17% of the total votes polled for the seat.
