According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 70.82%, while it was 73.79% in 2016, and 71.78% in 2011.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, J Chinchurani of CPI won in this constituency beating M M Naseer of INC by a margin of 13678 votes which was 9.34% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Mullakkara Retnakaran of CPI was the winner in this seat beating M.M. Hassan of INC by a margin of 21928 votes which was 15.11% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Mullakkara Ratnakaran of CPI won this seat defeating Shahida Kamal of INC by a margin of 23624 votes which was 18.54% of the total votes polled for the seat.
