Dharmadam Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Kannur district in the Malabar region of Kerala: Anjarakandy, Chembilode, Kadambur, Muzhappilangad and Peralasseri Panchayats in Kannur Taluk and Dharmadam, Pinarayi and Vengad Panchayats in Thalaseery Taluk.
This constituency covers an approximate area of 132 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Dharmadam is: 11°50'22.2"N 75°29'19.3"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 80.22%, while it was 83.33% in 2016, and 83.31% in 2011.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Pinarayi Vijayan of CPIM won in this constituency beating C Raghunathan of INC by a margin of 50123 votes which was 31.36% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Pinarayi Vijayan of CPIM was the winner in this seat beating Mambaram Divakaran of INC by a margin of 36905 votes which was 24.02% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, K.K. Narayanan of CPIM won this seat defeating Mambaram Divakaran of IND by a margin of 15162 votes which was 11.13% of the total votes polled for the seat.
