In 2016, V D Satheesan of INC was the winner in this seat beating Sarada Mohan of CPI by a margin of 20634 votes which was 12.85% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Adv.V.D.Satheesan of INC won this seat defeating Pannian Raveednran of CPI by a margin of 11349 votes which was 7.87% of the total votes polled for the seat.
