This constituency covers an approximate area of 1368 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Peerumade is: 9°32'25.1"N 77°07'51.2"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 72.22%, while it was 73.37% in 2016, and 69.67% in 2011.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Vazhoor Soman of CPI won in this constituency beating Adv Syriac Thomas of INC by a margin of 1835 votes which was 1.45% of the total votes cast. In 2016, E S Bijimol of CPI was the winner in this seat beating Adv. Syriac Thomas of INC by a margin of 314 votes which was 0.24% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, E. S. Bijimol of CPI won this seat defeating Adv.E.M.Augusthy of INC by a margin of 4777 votes which was 4.15% of the total votes polled for the seat.
