This constituency covers an approximate area of 595 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Anaikattu is: 12°47'44.9"N 78°59'31.2"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 77.05%, while it was 78.39% in 2016, and 78.13% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, A P Nandakumar of DMK won in this constituency beating D Velazhagan of AIADMK by a margin of 6360 votes which was 3.24% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Nandakumar. A.P of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Kalaiarasu. M of AIADMK by a margin of 8768 votes which was 4.83% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Kalaiarasu.M. of PMK won this seat defeating Velu.V.B. of DMDK by a margin of 27903 votes which was 18.96% of the total votes polled for the seat.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, A P Nandakumar of DMK had a vote share of 48.55% in this seat. In the 2016 Assembly elections, Nandakumar. A.P of DMK got a vote share of 42.43% , In the 2011 Assembly elections, Kalaiarasu.M. of PMK got a vote share of 54.51% in Anaikattu.
