This constituency covers an approximate area of 414 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Kancheepuram is: 12°52'56.6"N 79°42'58.7"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 73.28%, while it was 75.56% in 2016, and 80.83% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, C V M P Ezhailzrasan of DMK won in this constituency beating P Magesh Kumar of PMK by a margin of 11595 votes which was 5.11% of the total votes cast. In 2016, C.V.M.P. Ezhilarasan of DMK was the winner in this seat beating T.Mythili of AIADMK by a margin of 7548 votes which was 3.37% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, V. Somasundaram of AIADMK won this seat defeating P. S. Ulagarakshagan of PMK by a margin of 25717 votes which was 13.38% of the total votes polled for the seat.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, C V M P Ezhailzrasan of DMK had a vote share of 45.27% in this seat. In the 2016 Assembly elections, C.V.M.P. Ezhilarasan of DMK got a vote share of 40.4% , In the 2011 Assembly elections, V. Somasundaram of AIADMK got a vote share of 53.43% in Kancheepuram.
