This constituency covers an approximate area of 75 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Vellore is: 12°54'57.2"N 79°09'07.6"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 70.25%, while it was 68.61% in 2016, and 73.68% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Karthikeyan P of DMK won in this constituency beating Appu S R K of AIADMK by a margin of 9181 votes which was 5.14% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Karthikeyan of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Harun Rasheed of AIADMK by a margin of 26210 votes which was 15.3% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Vijay.Dr.V.S. of AIADMK won this seat defeating Gnanasekaran.C. of INC by a margin of 15176 votes which was 10.78% of the total votes polled for the seat.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Karthikeyan P of DMK had a vote share of 47.24% in this seat. In the 2016 Assembly elections, Karthikeyan of DMK got a vote share of 51.53% , In the 2011 Assembly elections, Vijay.Dr.V.S. of AIADMK got a vote share of 50.82% in Vellore.
