This constituency covers an approximate area of 180 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Irinjalakkuda is: 10°20'50.3"N 76°13'49.4"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 74.8%, while it was 77.81% in 2016, and 75.99% in 2011.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, R Bindu of CPIM won in this constituency beating Thomas J Unniyadan of KEC by a margin of 5949 votes which was 3.85% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Prof. K.U. Arunan (E) of CPIM was the winner in this seat beating Adv. Thomas Unniyadan of KCM by a margin of 2711 votes which was 1.82% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Adv.Thomas Unniyadan of KCM won this seat defeating Adv. K.R.Vijaya of CPIM by a margin of 12404 votes which was 9.37% of the total votes polled for the seat.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, R Bindu of CPIM had a vote share of 40.43% in this seat. In the 2016 Assembly elections, Prof. K.U. Arunan (E) of CPIM got a vote share of 40% , In the 2011 Assembly elections, Adv.Thomas Unniyadan of KCM got a vote share of 51.7% in Irinjalakkuda.
