Kalpetta Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Wayanad district in the Malabar region of Kerala: Kalpetta Municipality and Kaniambetta, Kottathara, Meppady, Muppainad, Muttil, Padinharethara, Pozhuthana, Thariyode, Vengappally and Vythiri Panchayats in Vythiri Taluk.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 625 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Kalpetta is: 11°35'53.9"N 76°02'37.3"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 74.22%, while it was 79.07% in 2016, and 74.36% in 2011.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Adv T Siddiqu of INC won in this constituency beating M V Shreyamskumar of LTJD by a margin of 5470 votes which was 3.61% of the total votes cast. In 2016, C K Saseendran of CPIM was the winner in this seat beating M.V Shreyams Kumar of JDU by a margin of 13083 votes which was 8.67% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, M.V Sreyamskumar of SJD won this seat defeating P.A Muhammed of CPIM by a margin of 18169 votes which was 14.35% of the total votes polled for the seat.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Adv T Siddiqu of INC had a vote share of 46.41% in this seat. In the 2016 Assembly elections, C K Saseendran of CPIM got a vote share of 48.35% , In the 2011 Assembly elections, M.V Sreyamskumar of SJD got a vote share of 52.94% in Kalpetta.
