In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Prof Abid Hussain Thangal of IUML won in this constituency beating N A Muhammed Kutty (Mammuty) of NCP by a margin of 16588 votes which was 10.42% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Abid Hussain Thangal of IUML was the winner in this seat beating N.A. Muhammed Kutty (Mammooty) of NCP by a margin of 15042 votes which was 10.13% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Abdussamad Samadani of MUL won this seat defeating Dr.C.P.K.Gurukkal of NCP by a margin of 35902 votes which was 30.34% of the total votes polled for the seat.
