In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, I C Balakrishnan of INC won in this constituency beating M S Viswanathan of CPIM by a margin of 11822 votes which was 7.11% of the total votes cast. In 2016, I C Balakrishnan of INC was the winner in this seat beating Rugmini Subrahmanian of CPIM by a margin of 11198 votes which was 6.51% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, I.C Balakrishnan of INC won this seat defeating E.A .Sankaran of CPIM by a margin of 7583 votes which was 5.21% of the total votes polled for the seat.
