Pallavaram Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Kancheepuram district in the North region of Tamil Nadu: Tambaram Taluk (Part) Polichalur (CT), Anakaputhur (TP), Pammal (TP), Tirusulam (CT), Pallavaram (M), Thiruneermalai (TP) and Meenambakkam (TP).

This constituency covers an approximate area of 31 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Pallavaram is: 12°57'50.0"N 80°07'52.0"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 60.86%, while it was 61.76% in 2016, and 72.2% in 2011.

In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Karunanithi of DMK won in this constituency beating Rajendran of AIADMK by a margin of 37781 votes which was 14.3% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Karunanithi, I of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Saraswathi, C.R of AIADMK by a margin of 22165 votes which was 8.82% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, P. Dhansingh of AIADMK won this seat defeating T. M. Anbarasan of DMK by a margin of 17374 votes which was 8.67% of the total votes polled for the seat.
