In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Shekar R D of DMK won in this constituency beating Dhanapalan N R of AIADMK by a margin of 54976 votes which was 27.64% of the total votes cast. In 2016, P Vetrivel of AIADMK was the winner in this seat beating N R Dhanapalan of DMK by a margin of 519 votes which was 0.28% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Soundararajan A of CPIM won this seat defeating N.R.Dhanapalan of DMK by a margin of 17423 votes which was 10.75% of the total votes polled for the seat.
