In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Sivakumar P of DMK won in this constituency beating Kalyani P L of AIADMK by a margin of 55013 votes which was 41.47% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Sivakumar P @ Thayagam Kavi of DMK was the winner in this seat beating Neelakandan V of AIADMK by a margin of 3322 votes which was 2.43% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Neelakandan. V of AIADMK won this seat defeating Natesan .C. Dr. of INC by a margin of 29341 votes which was 23.7% of the total votes polled for the seat.
