In the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections, Manirul Islam of TMC won in this constituency beating Ghosh Hemanta of BJP by a margin of 59945 votes which was 32.44% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Mainul Haque of INC was the winner in this seat beating Md. Mustafa of TMC by a margin of 28167 votes which was 17.26% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Mainul Haque of INC won this seat defeating Abdus Salam of CPIM by a margin of 4739 votes which was 3.48% of the total votes polled for the seat.
